Novak Djokovic Secures Victory in One-Third of Grand Slam Appearances in 2023

In 2023, Novak Djokovic delivered an array of G.O.A.T. stats, breaking Grand Slam records and achieving new No. 1 ranking milestones. However, one particular statistic stands out as truly mindblowing.

Having secured victories at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and the US Open this year, Novak Djokovic has now won exactly one-third of the Grand Slams he’s played throughout his career – an impressive 24 out of 72. Furthermore, he reached the final in precisely half of the Grand Slams he participated in – an astounding 36 out of 72.

To grasp the significance of this achievement, consider that each Grand Slam draw commences with 128 players. Emerging as the last man standing out of 128 in one-third of the tournaments and reaching at least the final in half of them is nothing short of remarkable.

  • Reached the semifinals in 47 of 72 majors played (65.3%)
  • Reached the quarterfinals in 57 of 72 majors played (79.2%)

In comparison, the other two members of the Big 3, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, have won 32.8% (22 of 67) and 24.7% (20 of 81) of the Grand Slams they’ve played, respectively.

But there’s more.

Djokovic has triumphed in 23 of the 48 majors he’s played since the start of 2011, almost half of the majors in the last 13 years. He has also claimed victory in seven of the 10 he’s played since the beginning of 2021.
