Elena Rybakina and Victoria Azarenka reached the Brisbane International tennis tournament semi-finals.

Rybakina won her quarter-final in just seven games after her opponent retired injured.

Azarenka had a tougher battle, winning in three sets against Jelena Ostapenko.

– Both Rybakina and Azarenka will face seeded players in the semi-finals.

 In the men's bracket, Holger Rune and Roman Safiullin won their quarter-finals and will play each other in the semi-finals.

– Grigor Dimitrov also won his quarter-final and could face Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals if Nadal wins his match later.

– Nadal is aiming to extend his comeback tournament from a year-long injury layoff.

– Nadal has won his first two competitive matches since the 2023 Australian Open in straight sets.

– The Brisbane International is a warm-up tournament for the Australian Open, which starts next week.
